<p style="margin-bottom: 0.9em; line-height: 1.5em;"><span style="font-size: small;">During the year of 2009 I photographed along Streatham High Road to capture contemporary Streatham.</span></p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0.9em; line-height: 1.5em;"><span style="font-size: small;">Streatham High Road (</span><span class="caps"><span style="font-size: small;">SHR</span></span><span style="font-size: small;">) </span><span style="font-size: small;">is not only what is locally believed to be the longest High Road in the </span><span class="caps"><span style="font-size: small;">UK</span></span><span style="font-size: small;"> but </span><span style="font-size: small;">was also voted Britain’s worst street in a 2002 poll by</span><span class="caps"><span style="font-size: small;">CABE</span></span><span style="font-size: small;"> </span><span style="font-size: small;">(Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment). However, w</span><span style="font-size: small;">ith my images I am hoping to provide a different perspective of this area- a reviewing of the place and the people to show it in a different light. I believe that this project presents an important visual document that shows that far from being Britain’s worst road, </span><span class="caps"><span style="font-size: small;">SHR</span></span><span style="font-size: small;"> is in fact a microcosm of multi-cultural Britain and, hence, representative of modern day Britain.</span></p>
