Save Streatham Common Paddling Pool

Streatham Common - paddlling pool

Following 50% cuts to parks budgets, Lambeth Council is closing Streatham Common’s very popular Paddling Pool.  Thanks though to funding from The John Horseman Trust, if we raise a further £7,000 locally, the can take over management of the Paddling Pool and open it as usual this Summer.

When SCCoop surveyed the local community, 90% said they felt it was important that the paddling pool stays open, with £1,000's of pledges and dozens of offers of volunteers to help with the project.

To open the pool for summer 2016 SCCoop need you to help reach their target of £7000.  If they raise this then they already have matched funding commited from the The John Horseman Trust and Lambeth Council (for the utility bills) to cover the full costs to enable them to open it this season (as long as we don't get any new major problems requiring additional significant repairs).

If they beat their target or any money is left over, it will go towards next seasons's costs.

The  is a new community run social enterprise managing Streatham Rookery. Many people know us as 'SCCoop'. We were the first community group in Lambeth to take over direct responsibility for a Lambeth Park.

Streatham Common’s Paddling Pool was built in 1938. It is located near the car park. There are picnic tables on the grassy area around the pool, which is enclosed and accessible through a gate, which makes it a safer area for very young children. It is free to use and very popular on sunny days for families with young children.

With your support, they can reach the target and keep this valuable community facility open for everyone.

Great news, SCCoop  have reached their target, but can still use your help either with unexpected repairs this year, or they'll put it aside to give the 2017 funding a kickstart.
