Friends of Streatham Common
We are a voluntary organisation, run by local residents.
We work to ensure that Streatham Common and the Rookery are well kept and have facilities for all sections of our community, providing community views of the maintenance and development of the area in a way that balances the needs of diverse groups of users.
We also run a number of popular public events each year which, among many, include Streatham Kite Day, Bird Walks, Open Air Theatre in the Rookery and the Fun Dog Show.
Among the projects we run, we have recently campaigned to restore the Rookery Gardens and have won funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund. We have funded and installed a nature trail, and organised events to mark the Rookery Centenary.
Friends of Streatham Common has elected officers and currently has about 300 members, who we need to make our activities possible. For a very modest annual fee, members also receive a newsletter three times a year and an invitation of the Annual General Meeting and to an annual party.
Membership is open to any individual, family or business.
