Friday Night Comedy at Giggle Week

The Derek Nash Funk Experience

<p>Led by acclaimed saxophonist Derek Nash (Jools Holland R&amp;B Orchestra) and with a band chock full of funk all-stars (who've played with, among others, Ray Charles, George Michael and Massive Attack), The Funk Experience bring you the sounds of Grover Washington Jnr, David Sanborn, Herbie Hancock, Bill Withers and more as they dig deep into the beat and groove laden world that has inspired their journey as musicians.</p>

Davide Giovannini – Minas Project

<p>World renowned drummer, percussionist and composer leads this star-studded line-up as they present the finest Brazilian flavoured jazz, inspired by Davide’s work and collaboration with some of that country’s greatest musicians and reflecting the cultural hotspot of Minas Gereis.<br /> Look forward to two sets of original songs that focus on the beautiful entwined harmonies and melodies of the region's rich musical traditions punctuated by those signature Brazilian beats.</p>

Classical Music Recital

<p>Come and hear former Streatham resident and concert pianist David Dreebin in a lively and easy-to-listen-to recital. He's back at the British Home by popular demand. Varied programme will include Scarlatti, Chopin and Debussy, some lighter repertoire and maybe an original composition, on a grand Steinway piano. Donations to the British Home greatly appreciated. Community Garden Open Day

<p>Streatham Common Community Garden is a charming walled garden that has been used for gardening and food growing for over 200 years. The garden is brimming with flowers, fruit and vegetables, and lots of creepy crawlies too. Bring your little ones on a mini-beast hunt, learn how to make a garden headband and discover the wildlife on your doorstep. <p>Skilled Furniture Restoration: See what goes on behind the scenes at E &amp; A Wates.<br /> You are invited into our workshop to view the traditional craft skills of Reupholstery, Loose cover making, French Polishing, Cabinet Restoration, Caning, Rushing and Gilding together with examples of finished work. The hour long tour also includes discussion about the wonderful materials we use, techniques that we practice, the problems we often encounter and some of the glorious fabrics we use.<br /> Tours start on the hour.</p>

After the war Turing turned his scientific and mathematical genius to the concept of developing an ‘electronic brain’; the first computer which ultimately lead to today's smart phones and tablets.<br />
