Spires' and Friends Gallery Reception at Art23

<p>Spires’ day centre will be transformed into a gallery over the first weekend of Streatham Festival. Please join us for a free drink and exhibition opening before the official launch of the festival at the Streatham Choral Society’s summer concert: an ideal combination for opening night!<br /> The gallery will feature work from Spires’ clients, Emmaus Lambeth and Bishop Thomas Grant School as well as other local artists as part of the wider Art 23 trail.<br /> Entrance £3. Work will be available to purchase for the duration of the gallery opening.</p>

Spires' Fundraising Showcase

<p>An evening of music in support of local homeless charity Spires.<br /> The evening will feature music from the wonderful folk singer Hannah Rose Platt as well as beautiful acoustic songs from Beth Keeping, and a whole host of other musicians. Suggested donation of £5 (all proceeds go directly to the charity).</p>

Alison Rycroft at Streatham Strut

<p>Growing up on a farm in Burnley, Alison's first foray into jazz was as a singer in her University's Big Band in Dundee in which she performed for two years. Her love of jazz was sealed by the year she spent in New York, using her spare time to listen, and sometimes perform, in legendary jazz clubs.<br /> Since returning to the UK and moving to London she has perfomed at venues including the Bull's Head, Hideaway Jazz Club, Oliver's Jazz Bar, the Commander Bar and the Pheasantry. She has also been featured on BBC Radio Scotland.<br />

Acting Workshops

<p>Join Paper Doll Productions for a series of lively and fun acting workshops ideal for professional and amateur actors and anyone looking to apply to drama school.<br /> Monday's workshop will be an introduction to Improvisation.<br /> On Tuesday bring along a modern monologue to work on.<br /> On Wednesday bring a Jacobean verse monologue to explore.<br /> Thursday will see a workshop based around the play "Bunny" by Jack Thorne.<br />

The complexities of multicultural inner-city life are vividly exposed in this remarkable coming-of-age tale from the co-writer of Skins.<br />

Fun at The Farm

<p>Here’s an invitation for Streatham’s young families to come along and meet some of the animals from Vauxhall City Farm – including bunnies, ponies, sheep and llamas. Bring a picnic and enjoy a few hours with us in these peaceful and safe surroundings.</p>

<p>Come one! Come All! Listen to tales from near and far! Folklore, faery tales and personal anecdotes. Gael enjoys peppering her stories with intriguing facts, to blur the lines between facts and fiction. Come with your ears open and leave with your imagination in overdrive.<br /> Gael is a story teller from Canada who creates and collects stories from around the world.</p>
