2018 Streatham Common Kite Day

Sunday, September 2, 2018 - 11:00

The 20th Streatham Common Kite Day will now take place on the 2nd of September 2018 from 11am until 5pm.

The original date for the event had set for the 13th May. Unfortunately, a number of events linked to adverse weather conditions of February and March mean that the common is deeply waterlogged and will need more time to recover. For this reason, public event on the ground had to be either cancelled or postponed.

Despite the set back the Kite Day promised to be a mini-festival packed full of spectacular kite flying displays and is an opportunity for everyone to go fly a kite.

There is an exciting line-up of kite flyers this year who will dazzle and amaze with acrobatic displays or astound with their huge static kites.

But Kite Day is not just for the experts – the organisers encourage people to bring their own kites to fly. If you don't own a kite, why not make one or buy one on site?

There is also fun for everyone and the event is a perfect excuse for a family day out.

On the marvellous backdrop of kite acrobatics, children will be able to go on the bouncy castles or get their faces painted.

There will also be Dance on the Common to live music from The Rapture Riders and there will be an array of food and drink for you to enjoy, or you can have a picnic.

There will also be a number of community stalls.
Streatham Action will also have a stall so come and meet us to get a taste of the incredible groups and societies which help make Streatham so special.
You can also find us on Instagram, Twitter and tell your friends you’re coming to Kite Day on Facebook.
