I was requested to attend – and once again at very short notice – a follow-up meeting at Lambeth Town Hall on Tuesday afternoon, which had been convened by LBL and TfL. Two central Streatham councillors, Cllrs Mohammed Seedat and Saleha Jaffer, were also in attendance. The purpose of the meeting was not only to update us all on the anticipated completion date for the emergency sewage repairs, but also to provide us with detail as to the various stages involved in the upcoming St Leonard’s Junction improvement works.
An afternoon concert of light classical music in aid of the British Home is taking place in the Concert Hall at the British Home, Crown Lane (near Crown Point), Streatham SW16 3JB at 3pm on Sunday 26 February.
Light classical music was once widely heard on the radio, but much less so nowadays. It was given a boost a few years ago with Radio 3's Light Fantastic festival. This concert is an annual event by the Mark FitzGerald Orchestra to raise funds for the Home. Tickets are £7.00 (£5 concessions) and are available in advance or on the door.
Bigger and Better Rookery Christmas Fair
The next meeting of the friends will be Tuesday 6th December - 7:30pm - St Simon and . There will be the usual round of updates on food growing, sport, the nature garden, progress fixing the wall etc. We will also hear from a local resident who would like to create a mural on the walls between the tennis and football/basketball courts.
If you are on the high road on Saturday then do pop in and have a cup of tea and see what wonderful crafting people we have in this area.
